It is with great sadness that we announce that Joan McArdle passed away peacefully on Thursday May 21st at the age of 84, after a brief and courageous battle with cancer. Loving wife of 54 years of Albert McArdle, caring mother to Randy Dobinson, Wendy Dobinson and Andrew (Natalie) McArdle. Loving grandmother of Matthew (Nicole) Dobinson, Courtney Dobinson and Nathan and Aaron McArdle. Proud great grandmother of Caitlin, Olivia and Parker. Loving Aunt of James and Victoria Champagne. Survived by her sister -in-law Connie McArdle and dear Aunt, Vera Evans. Predeceased by her 2 brothers Carl and William Champagne and sister-in-law Kathy. Joan was raised on the Evans family farm in Arundel Quebec and was proud of her rural roots and family heritage. Family was always close to her heart and she thoroughly enjoyed all family reunions and gatherings. Always supportive, Joan could be found cheering on her children and grandchildren at their various sporting events and other activities. Joan was an avid quilter and a proud member of the West Island Quilters Guild. Her fellow quilters were her friends and she looked forward to their meetings. She also enjoyed her weekly arthritis exercise group AWISH in Dorval. Joan spent numerous years working within the PSBGM at Keith and Cecil Newman schools in Lasalle as well as her many years at Meadowbrook and Lachine High School. Our family would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the nurses and doctors at both Lasalle and Verdun hospitals for their care and compassion during these difficult times. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Arthritis Society of Canada or St. Stephens Anglican Church in Lachine. A celebration of her life will be held at a later time when we can gather safely to remember her kind and gentle soul.
