Yura was predeceased by husband Denis Raymond Smith.
Yura is survived by daughter Glenna, son-in-law Romeo, son Lloyd, daughter-in-law Kathy, and grand-daughters Rachel and Stephanie.
Yura studied 3 years at Fashion Design School in Montreal. Then 1 year in Paris studying "haute couture" design. She later became a school secretary with the Montreal Catholic school commission, where she enjoyed her interactions with students, and made long-lasting friendships with colleagues.
Besides sewing, Mom had a passion for many crafts, including ceramics, macramé, knitting and crochet. Even with failing eyesight in later years, she proudly made and donated 100's of woolen mitts, hats, and blankets to family, friends, and those in need. She always kept a large supply of wool, claiming that she couldn't go until she put it to good use. So, she threatened many doctors with an order to learn how to knit, unless they healed her!
True to her middle name, Yura Rose lit up a room with her smile and gift of gab. More than a grand-mother, she became a mentor, confidant and true friend to Rachel & Stephanie.

She left us in the early morning,
when softly came the dawn.
And since she never said good-bye,
It's hard to think she's Gone.
Though she left us weeping,
Lonely and with aching hearts;
We know the angels are keeping her,
Where sweet joys will never depart.
In our hearts the memory lingers,
Sweetly, tender, fond and true,
There's not a day, Dear Mother,
That we will not think of you.
Dearest Mother, you left us,
Your smiling face we'll see no more,
But we will carry on until we meet you,
On that Celestial Shore.
