He received his early education through the public school system in New York, and later attended City College of New York. Al continued his higher education by attending The New York Institute of Banking and The Executive Development School of New York State Bankers Association in West Point New York.
After graduating college, Al started his banking career as a teller at the Chase Manhattan Bank of New York, and because of his meticulous attention to details and his ability to work with all kinds of people; he quickly worked his way to upper management and became the manager of the Chase Manhattan Bank of Harlem New York. He was extremely happy to serve the community in which he was born and raised. He did a lot for the senior citizens in the area and because of that the 7th of May 1982 was declared"Albert Parham Day" in the borough of Manhattan. Al spent most of his adult working life in the banking industry, which he loved very much. After managing many locations for Chase, including the World Trade Center branch, he retired as Vice President of the Second Avenue branch in 1986.
After retiring, he and his family quickly escaped the cold and settled in Coral Springs Fl, to enjoy the warmth and beautiful sunshine the area has to offer. He developed many enjoyable interests and activities while retired, and cutting the grass was one of them. He took pride in keeping his lawn beautiful. Throughout his life he stayed interested in the news, politics, boxing and fishing. He always had a great fishing story for anyone who was interested in listening.
Al was a loving and caring person. His heart was as big as the world and his sense of humor was the same, until the very end. He was greatly loved and will be sadly missed.
