Angelo was born in Rochester, New York to Giuseppe and Caterina (Lauria) on May 21, 1922. He graduated from Franklin High School then served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Michaelina (Mickey) Interlicchio on June 30, 1946 in Brooklyn, New York.
Following Angelo’s brief stint as a New York taxi driver, he and Mickey relocated to Rochester where he began his career as a US Postal worker rising to one of the top management positions in the local post office. He retired in 1981.
Always interested in sports, Angelo got his nickname Lefty while playing baseball and softball well into his middle age. He was also an avid golfer and bowler. Angelo and Mickey spent much of their retirement traveling all over the country. They also enjoyed cruising and land travel in Europe. While home, they never missed a chance to show off their jitterbug moves.
While he had many interests and activities, Angelo received, and gave, his greatest joy from and to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He never bragged about himself, but Angelo would regale anyone within earshot with his “Stars” latest exploits.
Angelo is preceded in death by his wife Mickey, his parents, Giuseppe and Caterina, and his siblings Tom and Jenny.
Angelo is survived by his son Joe and his wife Krista, daughter Kathy and her husband Anthony DelVecchio. Also survived by grandchildren Lori Ferguson (Kenneth), Christopher Campione (Meghan), James DelVecchio (Eva) and David DelVecchio (Viviana). He also had eight great-grandchildren.
Angelo’s family appreciates good thoughts and prayers in lieu of flowers. Those so inclined to make a donation in his name may do so to the charity of their choice or to the Shrine of St. Joseph, 1220 North 11th Street, St. Louis, MO 63106.
The family extends its sincere thanks to all the special people who aided Angelo in the past few years. They are especially grateful to the management and staff of Your Life of Coconut Creek for the love, caring and compassion they showed Angelo during the Covid-induced isolation of the past eight months.
