Arthur was born in Providence, Rhode Island, the son of Pasquale and Anna (Squizerro) Ciano. He became a resident of Pompano Beach, Florida in 2015 to be closer to family as he and his wife aged. Arthur was a licensed master plumber for over 35 years. He was selfless with his skill and knowledge of plumbing and construction, working evenings and weekends to help friends and family with their plumbing and construction needs. Arthur served his country during WWII as a member of the United States Army. After returning home from Germany, he met and married his wife of 68 years and had 3 children.
Arthur loved to be around his family and friends and to make people laugh with quick witted humor. He lived and worked for his family. Arthur was an avid bowler, participating in a Thursday night bowling league when he was younger, and later serving as captain of his Wii bowling team in his residential community.
Arthur was a devout Catholic and a member of St. Gabriel Church, Pompano Beach. He was an active member of the church community for most his life.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Anthony Ciano. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Denardo) Ciano, his three children; Diane White (David), Lisa Gandy (Jay), and Christopher Ciano (Eric), his four grandchildren; Elizabeth Frazier (Ryan), Matthew White, Kathryn Harpool (Jeremiah), and Gregory Gandy (Charli), and several nephews and nieces who were like his own children.
Arthur, fondly known as “Poppy” by his family, made friends everywhere he went and he will be missed by many.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a private funeral and burial will be held by his family.
