Bernard was born June 29, 1948 in Blakely, Georgia to Bernard H and Dorothy Lucile Mercer (nee Spurlock). He will be dearly missed by his daughters Belinda Mercer and Stacie Eastman and three grandchildren. Survived by his sisters Betty Smalling, Willene Jones, and Barbara Ricks. Predeceased by his sister June Mercer and brother Eddie Ross Mercer.
Bernard served his country honorably in the US Army during the Vietnam War and was a Union worker operating heavy cranes in the Port of Everglades.
