Betty D. Wilcox
September 18, 1930 – June 3, 2018
WILCOX BETTY D., 87, of Pompano Beach, Florida, passed away on June 3rd, 2018. Beloved widow of Leonard A. Wilcox, Jr, who passed away in 2014. Mother of Rebecca Dolan (Thomas), Rachel Tak-Wilcox (Eric), and Leonard Abram Wilcox, III (Tracey). Much-loved grandmother of Anna, Kate, Maarten, Bram and Abram (who passed in 2015). Sister of Sara Kerr (Jerry). Betty was born in Miami and graduated from Miami High School. She earned a B.A., magna cum laude, from Judson College in Marion, AL. She taught high school English in Panama City in the 1950s before serving as an officer in the Navy during the Korean War. She met Leonard when they were both stationed in New Orleans and then spent 40 years in Michigan where he practiced law before they retired to Florida. Betty had an adventurer’s soul. She loved poetry. She was one of the most unique human beings (mostly in a good way) a person could ever know. Betty and her family thank the residents and staff of John Knox Village for excellent friendship, support, and care. The family requests donations in Betty's name to Life is Labs Rescue, 715 East College Ave., Decatur, GA 30030. Attention: Kristie. Or online at http://lifeislabs.com/donate.
