With gratitude for a life rooted in South Florida, we celebrate Brian Hugh Edwards, who died suddenly on September 10th, 2026, at his home in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, the place where he was born and raised.
A graduate of Westminster High School in Ft. Lauderdale, Brian built his life in the community he had known his entire life. Pompano Beach remained a constant part of his story, and he found happiness in the things that made South Florida his home; the ocean, the sun and times spent outdoors with friends.
Brian lived with intention and worked hard to keep his life moving forward. He was determined and motivated, and he purposed to be kind, forgiving and loving to everyone he met.
It was his life’s mission to live at peace with the world, and those values shaped the way he moved through life and connected with others. He also found joy in the everyday moments that brightened his days. Brian loved animals and his dog Scooter held an incredibly special place in his heart. He loved taking care of plants, took pride in his job and deeply loved his fiancé Melissa Berry who sadly died in June of 2026.
Brian survived by his parents, Nancy and Richard Nickles; his two sisters, Karen Tilghman and Terri Gennaro; five nieces and nephews, Erin Miller, Scott Miller, Kevin Miller, Shayne Akins, and Zachary Gennaro. Brian also had 13 great nieces and nephews who all loved him very much!
Brian Hugh Edwards will be remembered with appreciation for the love he showed others, his accomplishments of self-growth, the purpose in which he lived, and the steady peace he sought throughout his life.
His memory remains part of his family and friend’s hearts and the part of Pompano Beach he loved along with all the lives he touched.
