David Gerard Jackson

He was born on December 15, 1932 in Cleveland, Ohio. He attended Miami of Ohio University, then traveled west to California and landed a job as an engineer with Douglas Aircraft. He then moved into civil engineering and construction management. Notable projects in Los Angeles included Cedars Sinai Hospital, the Music Center and the Northridge Fashion Center. He met his future wife, Charline, while skiing in Mammoth and they had a son, Andrew. The family relocated to Lighthouse Point, Florida, where he worked on Pompano Fashion Square mall and the Galleria at Fort Lauderdale. Instead of retiring, he purchased the Jolly Roger Travel Park in the Florida Keys and spent decades running the resort. He and Charline split time between Florida, Sun Valley, Idaho and California until she passed away in 2018. He loved animals and had cats and dogs most of his life. He was a private pilot and always ready for adventure, particularly fly fishing in the Pacific Northwest, Christmas Island and the Florida Keys. He is survived by his son Andrew, daughter-in-law Pammela, and grandchildren Devon, Connor and Blythe. A celebration of life will be held on August 8 at 11:30 am at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations to the Wildlife Conservation Network, ASPCA or The Sierra Club.
