David J Macenka

David J. Macenka, 55, of Pompano Beach, passed away on March 22, 2016 in Catholic Hospice at Holy Cross Hospital. Born on May 18, 1960 in Coaldale, Pennsylvania to the late Walter and Dorothy Macenka. After graduating from Panther Valley High School in 1978, he went on to graduate from Shippensburg University in 1982 with a BS in Public Relations.

David began his distinguished career in insurance with the State Insurance Fund for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. He pursued his love of sun, sand and water and relocated in 1991 to Pompano Beach, Florida. Even though he headed south, David was an avid Penn State fan and never missed a game!

David began working in the private sector as a dedicated insurance claims professional. He was licensed in over 30 states and was a member of the Broward County Insurance Association. He was a former board member of Tradewinds Condo association and active in many local charities. He finished his career at Sedgwick Claims Management Services as a supervisor with a team of 8. His robust insurance career spanned several decades and everyone who crossed paths with David both personally and professionally is better for having known him.

David loved getting together with friends, traveling and breakfast with his close friends at the Jukebox diner. He is survived by his brother Thomas Macenka.

There will be a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, March 29th at 10:30am at St. Gabriel Catholic Church located at 731 N Ocean Blvd., Pompano Beach, FL, 33062.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in David’s honor to St. Gabriel Catholic Church.
