David Allen Wilkening

David A. Wilkening, 66, peacefully passed away at University of Miami Hospital on Sunday, January 8, 2023. He was born on May 25th, 1956, in Freeport, IL to Richard and Patricia (Bohm) Wilkening. He graduated from Lena-Winslow High School, Lena, IL. Dave married the love of his life, Sylvia, on April 26, 2003, in Waterford, WI.

Following in his father’s footsteps, Dave started his professional career selling cars before eventually opening his own business, Wil-Kleen Janitorial Service, in Freeport, IL. In 2006, Dave and Sylvia moved to Florida, where they eventually settled in Pompano Beach. After Dave earned his brokerage real-estate license, they worked together and started Net Group Real Estate, LLC.

Always with a smile on his face, Dave was known for his quick-witted humor and ability to light up a room. He was always ready to tell a joke and enjoyed making others laugh, staying busy with projects around the house, golfing, fishing, and walking his dog, Jake.

He is survived by his wife; his daughter, Janelle Johnson of Milwaukee, WI; his son, Matthew (Ashleigh) Wilkening of Las Vegas, NV; his 6 grandchildren; his step-mother, Karen Schneider of Livingston, MT; his two brothers, Tom Wilkening of Avon Park, FL; Chip (Michael) Wilkening of Jacksonville, FL; his sister, Jacki (Ritchie) Koch of Woodland Park, CO; his step-sisters, Tammy Dyer of Bloomington, IL; Kim (Rod) Schrader of Long Grove, IL; and several nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.

A memorial service has not been planned at this time. In lieu of the giving of flowers, the family asks to hold your loved ones close and cherish your time with them.
