Debbie aged 59 years old in Fort Lauderdale, Florida passed away on October 12th, 2021, after a battle with cancer surrounded by her loving children and love of her life. She was the mother to Nick, Alex (passed 5/30/90), Cydney, Kelsey and Kirstin, grandmother to Charley and Jackson and life partner to Rob. She also was mother to her beloved Jack Russell, Percy.

Debbie was born in Farmington Hills, Michigan on June 25th, 1962, to Nancy and George Valassis. Given her last name, she coined the nickname “Pickle” growing up amongst friends. She was the youngest of her three siblings, Doug, Diane, and Craig. She attended Harrison High School where she was part of the gymnastics and spirit teams. She was known by her classmates to have the biggest smile walking the halls. She had many interests in life, however her pride and joy were helping people through mentorship, charity, or volunteering. She absolutely loved Mickey Mouse and Disney as a tribute to her late son Alex. She incorporated Disney into her daily life and to some of her friends she was known as “Debbie Disney” due to her vast Disney collection. She also loved musicals and supported drama departments in the community, you could always hear her actively listening to her favorites like Wicked and Hamilton on repeat and even hear her singing along at productions. Her love and light will live on through her many friends and family that loved her so much.

She is survived by her children, Nick, Cydney, Kelsey and Kirstin, her partner Rob, two grandchildren, Charley and Jackson, and dog Percy.

Debbie’s life will be celebrated on October 23rd, 2021, at Kraeer Funeral Home & Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens at 200 W Copans Road Pompano Beach, FL 33064 from 3pm – 5pm. Please wear something related to Disney or her favorite color, red to celebrate her life. You can also make a donation in her name to Children’s Home Society of Florida.
