Dominick John Sylvestri, a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2026, leaving behind a lifetime of love, laughter, and memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew him.
Dominick was born on June 9, 1937, in Yonkers, New York. After meeting Carolyn, the love of his life, they were married on October 9, 1960 and moved to Pelham, New York. Dominick and Carolyn were blessed with three boys and in 1977, he and his family moved to Fort Lauderdale, Florida, where he continued to build a beautiful life surrounded by the people he loved.
Dominick was a man of faith who loved deeply. He had a gift for making people feel welcome and loved. His warm personality, generous heart, and wonderful sense of humor made him someone people were drawn to. He also had a wonderful sense of style and loved getting dressed up for special occasions and events, always taking pride in looking his best. To know Dominick was to know a genuinely great man who left an impression wherever he went.
Dominick worked as a cosmetologist for more than 60 years, dedicating much of his life to his craft and to the many people he met along the way. His relationships with others were just as meaningful as his work, and the friendships he made throughout his life were cherished.
But if there was one thing that could always bring a smile to Dominick’s face, it was dancing. He was an incredible dancer and absolutely loved being on the dance floor. He could dance with the best of them and even had the opportunity to dance on The Paul Whiteman Show. He also loved singing in the church choir. Music and dancing brought him tremendous joy, and his love for both will be remembered by all who had the privilege of watching him dance and sing.
Above all, Dominick loved his family, the Lord, and dancing. He was a proud father of three, grandfather of six, and great-grandfather of 10. His family was one of the greatest joys of his life, and he took immense pride in each and every one of us. He especially loved saying our full first names—a simple but special way he made each of us feel known, loved, and important. His pride in his family was unmistakable, and he cherished every moment spent together.
Dominick is survived by his brother, Ron Sylvestri (Donna) of New York; his sister, Tonya Taylor (Tom) of New York; his sons, Anthony Sylvestri (Donna) of Coconut Creek, Gary Sylvestri (Alisha) of Georgia; and Gregory Sylvestri (Angel) of Coconut Creek, Florida; along with his 6 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
His family will forever cherish the love, laughter, stories, and memories he gave them. His legacy lives on not only in the lives of his family, but also in the countless people he touched throughout his life.
He never met a stranger and left this world having made it a little brighter simply by being in it.
A celebration of Dominick’s life will be held at Abundant Life Church in Margate, Florida, on October 27, 2026, at 1:00 p.m.
