Doris Evelyn (Corbett) Garner was born on June 16, 1930 in Adel Georgia. She was 1 of 3 children born to Willie and Alma Brown. They were a farming family who traveled back and forth from GA to FL for the different planting seasons. They settled in Pompano Beach on Dixie Highway just across from the East Coast Railroad tracks. That detail is important because that is where she met the love of her life Edward Lee (Bud) Garner. They were married on May 22, 1949 after Bud returned back to Pompano after serving in the US Navy in WWII. Bud predeceased Doris on April 21, 2016 after a brief illness.
