Dorothy Curfman Johnson, age 93, died on February 15th, 2024, in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Dorothy is survived by her brother, Paul Curfman, and her nephew David Curfman. She is preceded in death by her two sons, Eric Johnson who passed away at age 3, and Gregory Johnson who passed at age 18. Dorothy was an honorary Swan family member to Georgia Darlene Swan, Daniel, Merry and Christopher Swan.
Dorothy was born on November 21,1930 in Maryland to parents Paul and Rhoda. At the age of 3 she then moved to Newville, Pennsylvania. She married Robert Johnson and moved to Youngstown, Ohio. Later in life she attended Gettysburg College for two years and then after she moved to Florida, attended FAU where she received a teaching degree. Dorothy accepted a position as an Elementary Teacher at Sanders Park, where she worked for more than 25 years.
Dorothy was a great family women and a loving mother. She was a social, active women who was deeply involved in her Lutheran church for the majority of her life. She enjoyed gardening, fast cars, old TV shows, family events, and donating to those in need. Her family and friends will always remember her as a kind, loving women who loved ladybugs.
A memorial service is scheduled for Friday March 1, 2024, 6:00-9:00pm at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Dorothy’s life. She is going to be inurned with her two sons at Forest Lawn Memorial park in Ohio.
