My dear Eddie ~ it has almost been 10  years since you left and my heart is still breaking. 
What keeps me going is the wonderful memories you left in my keeping for forever. 
I met you when you and Kirsten were Freshman at Pompano High.  It was an amazing friendship that began that year.  So many people are gone now that attended your wedding in my backyard but at that moment, time stood still. 
You touched so many lives in such a positive way. Every time I look out the window I see you on the tennis court that we played on when you were here. I can assure you that I never got any better but I sure did laugh a lot! 
I miss you so much and if I’m lucky I’ll see you upstairs. You’ll be throwing a tennis ball to Calloway because he is up there too along with so many of our family members.

I was just surfing the web and thought of Eddie and was shocked to see he was gone.  You know how close he and I were when he was a junior.  What a great kid.  He probably never told you that when he was about 14 he decided he wanted to drive my paper route with me.  As I came out of a building after delivering papers I was shocked to see that my van was gone!  Eddie had decided that he had seen me drive enough that he took off with it!  He also came to California unannounced to play in a tournament out here that he never even entered.  As I recall we went down and talked our way in and he did quite well.  My wife Carolyn and I fed him his first burrito.  He loved it.  He took us to see Raiders of the Lost Ark.  I moved from Florida before he reached adulthood so my memories of him are a kid everyone loved, a kid with great skill and a burning desire to beat the local Robert Seguso.  Bob Campbell named everyone at the club and he was named "squirrel" -- probably for his non-stop activity both outside the club when sunny and inside the clubhouse when rainy.
Carolyn and I just wanted you to know how much we loved him.

I will always remember our time spent with Brian and Marie.  I still look at postcards you sent from days gone by.  Looks as though you didn't "let the door hit you from behind"!  Both Marie and I have very fond memories...we will continue to think of you with a laugh or two.  Our deepest sympathies to the Herrmann's.  We were friends of Eddie from the late 80's early 90's and just learned of his passing.  Many Blessings.

To The whole Hermann family, the news finally reached me in the UK and a cloud hung over my day with sadness. I thought the world of Eddie as he was a fantastic motivator on court and off. My days at Kesl's academy were always so much happier when Eddie arrived back in town. He was a fantastic inspiration, later a friend and I can't wait to see him again in heaven. Miss you loads Eddie, catch up soon, love Pippa.

My sincerest condolences to the Herrmann Family- Eddie was a wonderful person and will sadly be missed by all who knew him. I was heartbroken to hear the news, and I want you to know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. I cannot begin to explain the impact he has made on my life as my tennis coach, a tutor, friend and father figure. Eddie never gave up on any of us. He had always gone far and beyond what most people would do to help his students excel and he refused to see any of us fail. I will truly miss him.

We are friends of the Steinhauer's and met Eddie through them.  Besides the wedding which we attended we shared several visits with Eddie both in Indianapolis and in Florida.  Our memories of him are of a wonderful young man, full of life and compassion for others.  We will remember his tennis skills, warm smile and sense of humor. I was so sorry to hear about Eddie.  I remember Eddie when he was at Deer Creek Tennis when I was a member, and enjoyed working with him at Patch Reef Tennis.  My condolences and prayers to all family members.

Eddie was a great friend and I'll miss him. I remember the first day we met...at a tennis tournament in Fort Lauderdale in 1977. He walked on the court with that funny short step shuffle, that sly grin, and those eyes that looked right through you. He was a great soul and I'm a better person from knowing him.
