Eric was predeceased by his mother, Aline Cavelier; his father, Peter M. Cavelier; and his brother, Peter Raymond Cavelier. He is survived by his life partner, Alice Heximer; his sister, Clarisse Conner; his nieces, Sandra (Marty) Alexander; Lisa (Albert) Della Bella; and Renee Leddy; and his nephew, Timothy Conner.
Born on September 21, 1943 in Waltham, Massachusetts, Eric was the son of the late Peter M. and Aline Cavelier. When Eric was four years old, his family relocated to Punta Gorda, Florida, and then to Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
Eric proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy for four years, where he was based out of Norfolk, Virginia. He served aboard the U.S. S. Waller, a Fletcher-class destroyer, from 1965 to 1966 as part of his service.
Eric worked in the marine industry for Hvide Marine (later known as Seabulk Towing) in many capacities. He retired in 2003 from Seabulk Towing after forty-one years of service to the company. His last position with Seabulk Towing before his retirement was Chief Engineer aboard the tractor tug TT Broward.
In his retirement, Eric could be found cruising along the intracoastal in his boat, the All American, or crashing through the waves between the jetties of Hillsboro Inlet on his way to his favorite fishing spots. He enjoyed waking up each morning and seeing the All American hanging on its davits or tethered to the dock behind his beloved home in Pompano Beach.
Eric requested that no services be held.
Eric lived a full life filled with so many people who loved him. He will be missed to the depths of our souls. Eric, we wish you fair winds and following seas.
