Ethel E. Cook

Ethel gave birth to 7 children… her daughter, Janice Bethune, passed away 3 years ago March 17. Ethel was survived by Patricia Lane, Albert Barnes, Barbara Cochran, Mary Scottie, Sue Cook, and Clay Cook. Other family members include Beverly Barnes, Sheri Cook, and Gail Lagges.

Other children brought into the marriage by Willard Cook who passed away in 1983, include Willa Reeves, Harold Cook, Junior Cook, and Bitsy Cook. Additional family member includes Jeffrey Reeves.

Ethel was blessed with 14 grandchildren Kristy, Jody, Albie, Jake, Kellee, Theo, Melissa, Thomas, Lizzie, Ashley, Katie, Kristen, Michelle, and Mike. Additionally, she had 21 great grandchildren, and several great-great grandchildren as well!

Ethel was born and raised in Tennessee, the daughter of Mary and Albert Asberry. Her father was a dairy farmer and her mother was a stay at home mother and housewife, looking after her family. At the tender age of 19, she started her family and eventually moved between Tennessee and Florida, until she finally settled in Florida. Professionally, she managed apartment rentals, and was a security guard later in life. But most of all, and what she was most proud of, was raising her children.

She was a great matriarch who always put her family first. We will miss her feistiness and the love that she always gave. She loved her soap operas, spending time with family and friends, shopping, and dining out… to name just a few of her favorite pastimes. The last two decades were spent loving her grandchildren and great grandchildren as she watched her family grow. She lived and loved well, leaving footprints on our hearts.

We love you mama, you will live on in our hearts forever. Sleep with the angels sweet lady.
