A visitation for Ethel will be held Saturday, June 12, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM at Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064. A funeral service will follow at 5:00 PM. Repast will be from 6:00 - 8:00 PM.
Ethel Marie Mimbs was born in Moultrie, Georgia, to Allen Marshall Day and Lela Maloy on September 11, 1927. She went to school at Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia. She married McArthur Hobson Mimbs, Jr., on September 28, 1946, in Darien, Georgia. She was self-employed as Vice-President for Mimbs Heavy Equipment Co., Inc., for 40 years. She was a dedicated member of the DAR (Daughters of the American Revolution) for 25 years and held several office positions. She was an avid genealogist with three published books. Her latest book was completed in March and is to be published and distributed by her daughters. She wrote a fictional novel called “The Wings of Freedom Run Wild.” She loved researching genealogy, writing, and painting pictures. She was an exemplary housewife and raised four loving daughters.
Ethel Marie Mimbs is preceded in death by her husband, McArthur Hobson, Mimbs, Jr.; her daughter, Dawn Ann Mimbs; her granddaughter, Stacy Rene’ Gable; her brothers, Ellis Andrew Day and Loren Hariel Day; her sisters, Clydie Mary McMichael, Lottie May Knight, Clorine Levenia Foster, and Violet Lovie Foster; her parents, Marshall Allen and Lela Day.
Ethel Marie Mimbs is survived by daughters, Cheryl Marie Black, Stephanie Jane Vincent and spouse, Michael Vincent, Jan Mimbs and spouse, John Sutton; her sister, Myrtle Virginia Pierce; grandchildren, Derrick Allen Black and spouse, Helen, Shana Cherie Thomas and spouse, Jamie, Michael Branden Vincent and Jessica Williams, Gabriel Ryan Vincent, Daron Albert Gaon and spouse, Cassandra Alexis Richardson, Brittani Laure’ Rio Bleiman and Eric Steven Crady; and great-grandchildren, Hunter Cole Black, Kayla Caralina Vincent, Jacqueline Gianna Vincent, Tucker Lee Thomas, Allie Elizabeth Thomas, and Wyatt Michael Vincent.
