Everylyn, Barry was many things in life, a proud 3rd gen Local 1 Chicago Ironworker, just like your husband and your son Kenneth. He was a member of the Lions Club for 10 years and he was a woodworker that made the gavel he's holding from scratch, along with many other projects.  His last years were not the  best evidently as he passed in New York alone, but I'm sure he's in a much better place with you. You were always much loved by him.

I miss you so much it hurts knowing that you are not here no more to talk to, it was nice to talk to you and hear your voice so much, plus to even see you when you come to Chicago a few years back to see me in person, but now I hurt not knowing I can see you any more, I love you so much Grandma, you will always stay in my heart for the rest of my life, I miss you and love you Grandma

Hi Grand Ma, I miss you so much it hurts that I never came to see you and I will miss you so much in my heart, I will miss you and love you forever, I did have a great time the last time you was here in Chicago a few years back, but I will miss you the most, I love you Grandma

Grandma, it is because of you that my beautiful, loving mother, my precious sisters, myself and my four wonderful sons (the jewels of my heart) are alive and well today. Life is one of the many priceless gifts I have received as a result of you living. I believe that my personality, in part, is a result of you in my life as well. I am a strong woman (not a pushover) and this has helped me to make it through many of life's tribulations. This I believe came from you having to live a great deal of your life without Grandpa. I witnessed your strength throughout my childhood. I watched how you were there for everyone in their time of need, to provide and to comfort. I've seen you never give up on a person. I've also witnessed you don a tool belt to fix and repair many things where a father or grandfather might have when necessary. These examples that I've witnessed, I believe is what makes me want to be a helpful, loving, compassionate person. I tend to not want to give up on someone, always trying to look for the good in people. And I know the fact that I can do some plumbing, electrical and carpentry is a direct result from watching your resolute determination to get many of these types of jobs done. You see Grandma, I am who I am because you were. I don't know how to thank you for all these gifts you have given me. I am grateful that your suffering has stopped, that God has held out His hand to raise you up into Heaven. And I'm sure that you are up there singing your songs and dancing hand-in-hand with Grandpa. Your holiday tables will be full once again with your son, all of your siblings, parents and grandparents. Enjoy your days in Heaven Grandma and be sure to save a place at the table for me. You will always be missed, You will always be loved and You will always be treasured.

My grandmother brought me into this world and I had the honor of being with her as she left. She helped my mother raise me and my sisters. We didn't have a perfect relationship but I loved her and wouldn't have traded her for another. Our lives were not easy but we were there for each other. I miss her dearly and am saddened that her final years brought pain and suffering. We all did our best to care for each other. I love you forever gramma.
