Glad to have seen you last Friday night at our reunion! Extremely bitter-sweet that your dad couldn't be there. I would love to have told him that I became a teacher and I'm still teaching today because of him!
God bless the family and your Dad---what a mentor!

It's so ironic, my grandmother lived on his street and I had him for science in Jr. High, and we drove past his house just a few weeks ago and were wondering about him. What a terrific man and a great teacher, I am 64 and still remember him! On a humorous note, we did a science project with fruit flies in his classroom and it got way out of hand! They were everywhere! And I can remember him taking a pic of me for the yearbook. He contributed a lot to youth over the years in Pompano and your family should be proud.

Dear John, Vience, Sarha, George, and Mrs. Sortino.
Your dad and husband ment a lot to me, his teachings at PBJHS, his knowledge of nature, and of course the pigeon racing was awesome. He will be missed, his legacy will live long, and he is with our Father. Blessings and prayers to all,

John, Vince, and family...........
My deepest sympathies. I wish I could attend Friday's services but I just returned to work today after the recent passing of my own father.
I can tell you this in complete honesty.......throughout elementary, Jr. High, High School, B.C.C., and F.A.U., I can count the number of teachers on one hand that I respected, fondly remember, or who made an impact in my life. Those few who actually made a change in the way I thought and acted either through their ability to teach, coach, or more importantly, just talking privately to help one understand right from wrong or what is appropriate and inappropriate. Believe me when I tell you......for me your Dad takes the number one spot. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.

A lovely man, a class act and one you never forgot; even 39 years later. May God's love comfort your family at this sad time. God Speed Mr. Sortino!

Beginning in my freshman year (70-71) at DBHS, Frank Sortino gave me the opportunity to work in the school's Planetarium, helping to put on presentations of the then very recent moon landing....what a thrill it was. And his love of photography was contagious. I've been a professional wedding and portrait photographer since 1986. And of course....Sort's Sports....I think of you often, Mr. Sortino....
