A devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and joyful great-grandmother, Genevieve lived a life marked by grace, strength, and steadfast faith. She was born in Jacksonville, Florida, the daughter of Frank Merrill Wattles and Charlotte Grimm Wattles on September 20, 1942. She was the beloved wife of Hagood Clarke for 60 years and the heart of a large and close-knit family.
She is survived by her husband: Hagood Clarke; her sister: Charlotte Sunderman; her children: Christopher and Genevieve Niles, and David and Jennifer Adkins; her grandchildren: William and Genevieve Landers, Luke and Ashley Niles, Clarke and Jessica Niles, Grant and Charlotte Mosher, and Adaline Adkins; and her great-grandchildren: William, Ford, Genevieve, and Elizabeth Landers; Isla, Vera, Addison, Sadie Grace, Heidi Ann, and James Niles; Andrew Adkins; and Monroe Mosher.
Known affectionately as “GeeGee,” Genevieve poured her life into her home and her family. She was a devoted homemaker and a steady presence across generations — a constant source of encouragement, warmth, and quiet wisdom. She prioritized lasting friendships from Winter Park High School, college life, and from her many years as a South Florida resident. Genevieve, a member of the Delta Gamma sorority, graduated from the University of Florida in 1964. She had a lifelong love for tennis and brought that same grace and competitive spirit to every season of life. Above all, she was a woman of enduring Christian faith, which shaped her heart and guided her every step.
A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church on September 20, 2025 at 10am in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
