

George E. Foley passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 17, after a short illness. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather as well as a friend to all who knew him or briefly passed his way. He was born in Gary, IN on August 16,1921, and attended Lew Wallace High School and Indiana University. He enlisted in the Army in WWII where he proudly served throughout Italy reaching the rank of Captain. He was the owner and operator of Slick's Laundry & Dry Cleaners of Gary and outlying areas until his retirement. A proud member of Rotary International, he served as its president and was active in many charitable events. His great heart, wisdom, humor, and love of people and life will be missed. He is survived by his wife Sally Foley, daughter Susan Foley Avery and her husband Phil Avery, son George E. Foley, Jr., granddaughter Elizabeth Avery Sun and her husband Joshua Sun, sons and daughters of the heart Mel Bardill, Vanessa Baillie, Joe and Deb Bardill, Don Bardill, Jeff Bardill, and Billy and Kay Bardill, as well as eleven grandchildren and six great grandchildren of the heart. He was preceded in death by his sister, Florence Lavery, and brother, Robert Foley.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 21, from 11:00 to 1:00, followed by the funeral service at 1:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Gold Coast Home Health and Hospice Services, 2101 W. Commercial Blvd., Ft. Lauderdale, FL 33309.
