OBITUARY

Guerlande Jean

June 17, 1966July 28, 2020

Guerlande Jean 54, of Fort Lauderdale FL - Passed away peacefully July 28th after a long battle with Dementia.

Born in Abaco, Bahamas on June 17th, 1966 to Guerrianne Saunders and Elysee Jean. At the age of nine (9) Guerlande and her family moved to South FL where she lived out her remaining years. Guerlande was committed to her family and friends; a loving mother of six, a sister of eight and a beautiful soul to all who knew her.

Guerlande was as smart as she was beautiful. In addition to being a homemaker to her children, she spent decades of her life in Finance. She later developed a passion for accounting and decided to pursue a degree in the field. Unfortunately, before having the opportunity to put in place all that she learned she was diagnosed with early onset dementia. No longer being able to carry out her dreams in accounting, Guerlande was diagnosed at the age of 45 and called home to Christ at the age of 54.

Survived by her mother Guerrianne Saunders and father Elysee Jean; sisters, Immacula Lafontant, Marie Pierre, Tursey Saunders, Edianne and Yasmine Jean; brother, Gwench Saunders; loving children, Paris Bazile, Ricardo, Marklee and Ermence "Ashlie" Dumesle, Liondre St. Hilaire, and Jade Etienne; along with a host of nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. Preceded by her loving stepmother, Helen Jean; brothers, Oreste Lafontant, and Ernst Jean.

A True Friend Indeed!

That was Geri as I called her...
Geri and I met while working at American Express, she had such a wonderful demeanor, she was calm, always smiled and very soft spoken.
I was always in awe about how she handled situations so calmly as I on the other-hand was the bull headed one wanting to confront wrong doing at whatever cost but she would say “I’m not worried about that” I’m just going to do my job.
Her passion was to do the best she could each and every day, even when she realized something wasn’t right she still wanted to press on... She had such dedication to her profession...
She was a devoted Mother to her children and Loved them so much... They were her Heart and Soul... She would always talk about how she wanted the Best for their life....
Her other devotion were her grandchildren though they were not in close proximity of her she still talked about them often and loved them dearly...
As a Friend the word that comes to me as I think of Geri is “A Beautiful Soul”....
She was:
B=Blessed
E=Easy Going
A=Awesome
U=Understanding
T=Thankful
I=Intelligent
F=Fun
U=Unique
L=Loving

“Thank You” for sharing your mom with me, my heart is so broken but I have the great memories that we shared to hold on too and cherish for life of My Great Friend Geri!!!
I’m going to miss you so much....

To the Children I pray for your peace comfort and blessings in the days ahead. Just know that your Mom is alright and at peace...
Be there for each other and hold tight to each other, that’s what your Mom would want for You... Make your Mom proud of You.... Preserver even when it gets tough to finish the race....

1st Corinthians 13:13 Faith Hope and Love but the greatest of all Is LOVE- Have Love For Each Other!!!

Much Love to each of you
Always Yvette
