

Born September 23, 1936, son of Michael and Carolina (Matarese) Thomas in Bridgeport CT. Last family member of 10 children, 4 brothers and 6 sisters. Mr Thomas is survived by his beloved wife, Janet (Bernier – Berardis) Thomas, sons David (wife, Petra) of Pompano Beach FL, Keith of Dallas Texas, Allen (wife, Laurie) of Sunrise FL, and daughter Gwen Ferrari of Connecticut, step-sons David (wife, Joyce) Berardis of Deep River CT and Paul (wife Marissa) Berardis of Watertown CT. Mr. Thomas is also survived by 12 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thomas worked at United Aircraft/Sikorsky in Stratford CT, Mart Builders and Bishop Industries, prior to establishing his own business. An entrepreneur , he owned several constructions business which consisted of: CJT & Sons, Danbury CT, Re-mod Inc, Waterbury CT, Custom Wood Cabinet Mfg,. Waterbury CT, and Remodelers Unlimited of Southbury CT.
Mr. Thomas was a partner in Casa de Bella Restaurant in Torrington CT, and also owned King Neptune Seafood Restaurant in Milford CT. He also owned 3 Nu-Look Beauty Salons in Waterbury, Oxford and Southbury CT.
Retiring and relocating to Ft Lauderdale Fl in 1992 with his wife Janet, and subsequently moving to Pompano Beach FL in 1999, Mr. Thomas was active with the Pompano Beach Elks Lodge 1898 for 23 years. He served as a Member of the Board of Directors, and served a 5 year term as a Trustee with the Elks.
Gus has survived many years of continued illnesses, but friends and family will remember Gus as an avid storyteller, and generous contributor to the Elks charities. He loved to dance, and would tell you of all the things in life that made him happy, dancing was his one true joy.
