She married Tex Carlton “Carl” Alderman in the year 1967 in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Helen worked as a high school business education teacher for the Broward County School system for 24 years.
Helen was a strong, intelligent, and independent woman who strived for excellence in academics, nurturing friendships, family bonds, seeking knowledge through literature and the arts and embracing the joys of life from planting a flower, enjoying a cruise, the theatre, designing a crochet piece or breathing in the mountain air on a yearly vacation. Her relationship with Carl was a beautiful thing to witness and they represented two very strong bookends holding up thick volumes of culture, days of laughter and celebrations big and small. They were a package all were able to enjoy with smiles, smells, tastes, and tender love. Her life has left behind a strong legacy of integrity, strength, wisdom, and most of all the respect to others whether great or small.
Helen is preceded in death by her spouse Tex Carlton Alderman, brother, Wayne Sparling, sister Jean and parents Frank and Marie Alice Sparling.
Helen is survived by sister Joan Reitz, sister in laws, Carlene Hunter, Glenda Tadd, Gisele “Gigi” Alderman and numerous nieces and nephews.
