Helen Kelly

Helen H. Kelly passed away January 14, 2014 from complications with pneumonia. A resident of Ocean Colony, Lauderdale-by-the-Sea since 1980, Helen Kelly was born Helen Hedden in New York City, February 6, 1923. The daughter of George and Helen Hedden served in the Navy during World War II returning to New York City and the love of her life, Stephen J. Kelly, Jr., who she married November 27, 1947. They travelled the Islands while enjoying their apartments in the city and their home on Long Island Sound in Northport, Long Island. Always by the water, Steve and Helen returned to Florida and the Ocean where they loved life together until Steve’s passing in 1994. Always an independent woman, Helen remained in Ocean Colony enjoying her friends for many years. Only recently had she decided to move closer to family in Maryland. She leaves to remember her with great love and affection her nephews Jim (and Susan) Clark, Steve (and Nancy) Clark and her niece Cathy McCully. In addition to her beloved nephews and nieces, she is remembered by many friends and her grand and great-grand nephews and nieces. A memorial service is being planned for later this spring with Kraeer Funeral Homes handling the details.
