James Filosa Sr, 89 of Boca Raton, Fl. Passed on December 1st,2022. Jim Filosa was the son of Philip Filosa and Mary Filosa. He is survived by his daughter Darlene, and two sons Phillip and Raymond. He is also survived by an only grandson Daniel. All living in Florida. At the age of eighteen Jim married the love of his life, Arlene Frullo. In 1954 Jim welcomed the first of four children, Jim Jr., Phillip, Darlene, and Ray. Jim started his career in the electronics industry working for Sylvania and Raytheon while studying and achieving his bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from Northeastern University. While this was rewarding this didn’t always give him the time needed to be the kind of family man he wanted to be. After setting his sights on Florida, a chance encounter would steer him into his lifelong work passion, the boating industry.
The Filosa’s moved to Florida in the late 60’s, it is at that time Jim started his career in boating. Working for legendary boat builders including Chris Craft, Bertram, Gulfstar, Irwin, and Pearson Yachts. A lifelong learner, Jim would continue his education earning an A.S. Degree in Naval Architecture. His vast experience would eventually have giants in the marine finance world wanting his expertise. He worked for Chemical Bank and Comerica to help ordinary Americans afford a piece of paradise on the water. Later as he eased into retirement, he started his own boat surviving company, Filosa Marine Marketing which he continued until his retirement in the mid-2000s. While a devoted family man and hardworking valuable member of the marine industry, Jim also had yet another passion for choral music. While always a strong Christian, Jim rededicated himself to the Lord when he joined Coral Ridge Presbyterian Church in the early 90’s. Jim under the tutorage of Dr. James Kennedy became an Elder as well as discovering his love of singing for the Lord in the choir. The C.R.P.C. choir was treated to Jim’s wit and writings ‘From the Choir Loft’ each month for many years. It was a true passion and labor of love for Jim, for he saw it as his way of giving back to the Lord for the truly blessed life he had been given. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
