So sorry we lost your Mom. She was always like a second mother to me and included me in Hughes cultural outings in Spain, outings the Carlsons never  dreamed of taking (there was the base bowling alley afterall). Sally, I am up for flamenco lessons again . Just let me know 8636400341. Love Kristy

I have known the Hughes family since the 1960's when we all lived at Maxwell AFB. Her daughter Sally and I attended Lanier HS together.  Jean was the reason I chose Kappa Kappa Gamma at U of Maryland as she told me it was the only choice. She could not have been more correct as Kappa is very special to me and it always reminds me of Jean and her enthusiasm for KKG-owl, key, fleur de lis, blue and blue, that's for me!

I am so sorry for your loss! I didn't know "Jean" very well, but my brief encounter certainly open my eyes to a wonderful lady.

What an amazing, inspirational woman who was the matriarch of a wonderful, loving, inspirational family. 

She had a gift for making people feel special, and a knowing sparkle in her eye which, when she smiled at you, somehow made you feel perfectly okay with who you were, and at the same time encouraged you to become the best possible person you could be.

She was a great hostess to all her children's friends. I am proud to know all the Hughes Family and Jean made all our lives enjoyable with her warm smile and inviting personality.

Even though Jean has passed on, we know that we never lose those we have loved because within our hearts, her wonderful memory will always be with us. Jean was the BEST.
