Julia (Judy) Alice Casey passed away peacefully surrounded by family on November 27, 2022. Judy was the first born to Edna and Mark Broadwater on July 5, 1929 in Yorktown, Indiana followed by her siblings Ellen Joanne and Joe Sam. After high school she attended Ball State University earning a Bachelor’s Degree in teaching. She moved to Fort Lauderdale in 1952 and continued her career teaching first grade and enjoyed being a member of the Spinsters’ Club, playing bridge and traveling with friends during summers off.
Judy met DeWitt Casey in 1958 and they married in 1959 embarking on a 47-year romantic adventure. They were an amazing team fully devoted to their three children Cathy, Clint and Chris. They loved entertaining, tennis at the Silver Thatch and Lighthouse Point clubs with friends and family, running and traveling.
Over the last 15 years Judy spent time with her lunch bunch, attending yoga classes, bible study, and shopping. She adored her granddaughter, Lauren and attending every family event near and far. She is survived by her granddaughter Lauren, three children and their spouses Cathy and Jeff Baillis, Clint and Shelly Casey and Chris and Lisa Casey as well as a host of great nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be at 10:30am December 15th followed by a Celebration of Life at 11am. Both services will be held at Kraeer Funeral Home & Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens located at 200 West Copans Road, Pompano Beach, FL 33064. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to Eagle Ranch Children’s Home, 5500 Union Church Road, Flowery Branch, GA 30542.
