He was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Holt. He is survived by his wife, Patricia Holt; son Timothy Holt (Leslie) of PA; daughter Colleen McCauley (Sean) of PA; son Leo Holt of PA; Step-children Kimberly Gleason (Dave) and Tracey Weisel; Sister Edna White of PA; 13 grandchildren, 1 great-grandson and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
A native of Philadelphia, he attended North Catholic High school and St. Francis College in Loreto, PA. He began working at a young age with his father to develop Holt Hauling and Warehouse Systems that lead to the establishment of major marine cargo handling and warehousing systems in the Philadelphia and South Jersey areas. Mr. Holt, working with his younger brother Thomas J. Holt, recently deceased, expanded the family trucking and warehousing business into shipping and port operations, the sale and purchase of ships, and worked to dramatically increase cargo and commerce operations on the Delaware River.
Operations in other ports grew to include Wilmington, DE, Jacksonville, Florida and San Juan, Puerto Rico.
After retiring in the early 1980's, he and his wife established residence in the Ft. Lauderdale, Florida area. He continued to be an avid car collector and consultant, and was an expert in the history, maintenance and restoration of the Packard automobile as well as other luxury brand collectables, often acting as a judge for major car show events nationally right up to the time of his death.
Leo will be dearly missed by his family and friends. We celebrate his memory and thank God for everyday we were blessed with this presence. He will live forever in our hearts.
