June 17, 2026
It is with heavy hearts and deep love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, aunt, friend, and faithful member of her church, Marie Madona Devalon. She passed away peacefully on June 17, 2026, at the age of 88.
Born on November 25, 1937, in Saint Louis du Nord, Haiti, to Denant Devalon and Cecile Laurent, Marie was one of nine children. She was raised with a deep appreciation for family, faith, and hard work, values that remained at the center of her life. She grew to be a woman of remarkable strength, unwavering faith, and enduring resilience. She was affectionately known by her son and his family as “Manmi Dona.”
In the 1970s, Marie immigrated from Haiti to the United States by way of the Bahamas in search of greater opportunities for herself and her loved ones. She worked tirelessly to provide for and support her family, both in the United States and in Haiti. While she was known for her strong work ethic, her greatest passion and most treasured legacy was always her family.
Marie was the heart of her family—an anchor whose home was always open to those in need. She was known for her wisdom, her straightforward nature, her generosity, and the laughter she shared with those she loved. Her presence brought comfort, guidance, and stability to generations of family members and friends.
She was a devoted member of Shekina Church of God, where her faith continued to grow and inspire others. She found joy in life's simple blessings, but nothing brought a brighter smile to her face than spending time with her adopted grandchildren, especially Gina, who held a very special place in her heart.
She leaves behind a legacy of love, faith, and resilience. She was
preceded in death by six of her siblings.
She is survived by her cherished son, Maxi Raymonville; her daughter-in-law, Marie Christine Raymonville; and her grandchildren, Stacy Raymonville and Jean Max Raymonville.
She is also survived by her beloved siblings: her sister, Carmelita Devalon Vila, and her brother, Emil Laurent, who resides in Haiti.
She was dearly loved by her nieces and nephews, including Nerly Devalon Luma, her husband, Jean Morley Luma, and their children, Nedji Devalon, Emmanuel Rymsley Devalon, Ashley St-Remy, Abel Morley Luma, Rodner Devalon Estimond, and Tamara Luma; her niece Judith Laurent Jonassaint and family; her niece Eunice Laurent and family; her niece Maggie Laurent and family; her niece Sheila Devalon Saint Surent and family; her nephew Rony Saint Elois and family; her niece Floria Devalon Sweeting and family; and her niece Betty Devalon and family.
She was a beloved member of the Selius, Raymonville, Cherenfant, Lemur, Atis, Belo, Devalon, and Laurent families.
In addition, she leaves to mourn a host of extended family members, treasured friends, and brothers and sisters in Christ.
She will be deeply missed, lovingly remembered, and forever held in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
