

Mafalda Trupia was born August 1, 1932 in Tiriolo, Italy. Maha to her siblings and Nana or Nani to her grandchildren, passed September 19, 2019. Mafalda was the daughter of Saverio Gidaro and Francesca Cerminaro of Italy. She was a Roman Catholic and attended St. Elizabeth Church in Pompano Beach for many years.
Mafalda was married to Joseph Trupia Sr. for 45 years prior to his passing in 1995. She is also preceded by three brothers and two sisters. She is survived by her sole remaining sister Yolanda Colacino of Perth Amboy, NJ., her sisters-in-law Mary Gidaro of Cranbury, NJ. and Connie Gidaro of Port Richie, Fl., her beloved children Josephine Schell and son-in-law Wayne of Kannapolis, NC, Joseph Trupia Jr. of Deerfield Beach, FL., Marisa Sicilia and son-in-law Anthony of Deerfield Beach, FL., and many nieces and nephews. Nana is also survived by seven grandchildren – Christopher M. Dolan of Mesa, Az., Cody T. Schell of Port St. Lucie, FL., Kyle A. Schell and Kaylee N. Schell of Kannapolis, NC., Christina E. Trupia of Wellington, FL., and Gianna M. Burton and Giovanni A. Sicilia of Deerfield Beach, FL.
Mafalda was an extremely devoted mother and grandmother. She was an accomplished seamstress and worked many years for Maidenform in the garment industry. Many times, working more than one job to support her family. She was a source of wisdom and comfort during any trial or tribulations for her family or friends alike. She was very humorous and loved to tell stories. Some of her stories were about the history of her childhood in Italy during WWII, others more joyful that brought tears to the eyes from the laughter that ensued. No matter where she was, she had an engaging personality and loved to talk to anyone. Mafalda was also a very disciplined parent who instilled discipline, ethics, and values to her children thereby preparing them for their future. She was well known for her meatballs. Her greatest joy was to cook and feed her grandchildren and many visiting friends.
Mafalda will be missed by all for her cheerful wit, loud Italian outbursts, wonderful food, and loving smile. Nana we will miss you, go with God and have peace!
