My thoughts carry to you often, more than you would think I bet. My determination and grit are a big part of your influence in my life - no excuses. Watching you was like watching a wrecking ball. You were bigger than any room could hold. 
I miss you. And I wish I would have told you that more. I love you.

I was hesitant to post a memory of my Uncle Marcos, it felt like it was mine to hold and that it didn't belong to anyone else. Until I thought of my cousins (to Bri, Gabby and Eric - I love you and wish I had time at my disposal, I hated leaving). 
My Uncle was short of my hero growing up and even as recent as last year at my visit to my grandmother - he remained a giant. My Uncle taught me how to swim. I remember not even reaching his knees asking him to take me to the pool. So he looked down and said, "Sure Olive", and threw me in the pool. Someone recently told me 'yep, that was Miami High style'. I laugh every time I remember that story. He nicknamed me Olive Oil because I was so skinny, my brother was nicknamed 'Scooter' and my son he crowned 'Squirt'.  When I became a stronger swimmer, he would race me underwater with his hand slicing through the waves like he was a shark (scared the hell out of me) and then scoop me up and toss me to the other side. I didn't know it then, but I was becoming a hell of a swimmer. He taught me how to be fierce and brave - in everything I started, no quitting. He showed me how to own a room. I carry this trait with me to this day- even in the scariest of board rooms. He was a champion in EVERY way - 'all the colors in one, at full brightness'. The world doesn't feel as colorful without him in it. 
He left behind a legacy of heart. And I vow to be better at that part - the heart. Because none of this shit matters without that piece.  
To my beautiful Uncle, thank you for all the gifts you gave me when I was to stupid to know it.
