Mark K. Given
April 11, 1955 – October 15, 2021
Mark passed away on October 15, 2021 in the early morning at the age of 66 years old after battling cancer for the past 4 years. He was born in Tucson Arizona and grew up in Bristol Pennsylvania which he recently visited last year. He moved to south Florida in the 1980’s and resided in Palm Beach and Broward county for many years, then relocated to Lee county in 2000, after 10 years relocated again to Key Largo in Monroe county and lived there for 11 years.
Mark is survived by his wife, Doris F. Given; his son, Jason M. Given and his wife Elizabeth C. Given; his daughter, Courtney A. Horne and her husband Chris Horne; his sister, Terri Cain and her husband Bruce Cain; his granddaughter, Nicole Horne, his grandsons, Anthony Horne and Nicholas Given, his nephews, Bruce Cain, Brandon Cain, and their children Brandon Cain Jr, Bryson Cain, Bailee Madisyn Cain, and Roman Cain. He is preceded by both of his parents Darrel and Beverly Given.
Mark was a loving caring husband and would always make you laugh. He had a passion for life and all that he did. He lived for what he loved and loved what he did. He enjoyed outdoor activities, camping, boating, fishing, etc. He loved learning something new and anything that would give him a challenge. He always did it very well. As a carpenter he enjoyed working with wood, restoring homes, and could do just about everything except for electric, he would not touch that stuff. He would always make sure safety first in everything he did, sometimes a little overboard.
Mark loved his children and enjoyed vacationing with them and spending holidays and birthdays with them. He was a giving person as this made him happy, no pun intended he’s a Given.
He was a man that was dedicated, determined and some might say a slight bit stubborn. He was a Wonderful Dad, an Awesome Grandparent and an Amazing Friend to all that had the pleasure of knowing him.
He taught us all something about life even when he taught us nothing at all. He had a gift to never give you the answer for the hardest questions or challenges in life but instead to point you in the right direction to find the answers out for yourself.
He always stressed that life wasn’t a dress rehearsal and instead an act to the main event. He would say take the time to smell the roses and enjoy life to the fullest. To be a good steward to the earth, to not harbor hatred and to never hold a grudge.
He will be missed by all who knew him, to those that loved him dearly and to the lucky few who just got the opportunity to have a conversation with him.
Memorial services and celebration of Mark s life will be held Sunday, October 17, 2021, starting at 3:00pm till 5:00pm at Kraeer Funeral Home and Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens, 200 W Copans Road, Pompano Beach Florida 33064.

My wife and I met our friend Mark 4 yrs ago when we were looking for a home in keylargo. Most likely he was already sick but you couldn't tell by his attitude. He was always so positive, smiling ,telling jokes and always so eager to help in anything . One of the reasons we bought a home just steps from Mark was because we knew we were going to have a great neighbor and friend !
