February 9, 1938 - December 26, 2023
Born to Theodore Marie Albert Beaufrand and Marie Irma Fonteix from Martinique French West Indies.
May was born in Fort De France, Martinique, and was the youngest of 13 children with two surviving sisters, Jacqueline Deleuze and Ginette Lillo.
May got married in 1957 to Yvon Jean Pierre Roussel who was born in Rabat, Morocco and had four children, Yann Roussel (deceased), with a surviving son Tom Clement Roussel, Karl Roussel (deceased), Véronique Roussel, married to Bret De Beltrand with two children Allison and Sean de Beltrand, Olivier Roussel, married to Véronique Gosselin, two children Margaux Roussel and Elisa Roussel.
May worked with Yvon all her life until he passed away in 2006. She was the pillar of the house and very well organized. They moved to the United States in 1985 residing in Fort Lauderdale, FL. Every year she would travel the U.S with her Yvon. She traveled to many other places in the world, Morocco, France, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, Canada (British Columbia, Montreal, Toronto), Columbia, Venezuela, Guyana, St. Vincent, Grenadine, St Lucia, Barbados, Guadeloupe, St. Barth, Anguilla, St Martin, Dominican Republic, Bahamas, Alaska, Hawaii, Tahiti, Cook islands, Costa Rica, and Mexico. She enjoyed every bit of it. May was a nature and animal lover. She was loved by many.
Ten years ago she got struck by “colon cancer”. It was a battle, but she was a strong woman and beat all the odds until last year in August 2022 when she was given only six months to live. She decided to travel a little more and went to Martinique twice to see her son, went to France and Georgia and had a great time. A year and four months after being told she only had six months to live, things took a turn for the worse. She started to decline with a fight.
Her son Yann passed away December 26, 2008. May passed December 26, 2023. Yann came to get her so she would not suffer anymore.
May is now at rest and not suffering, but make no mistake you will never meet a person so determined in every aspect of life. She will be greatly missed, but deserves to be pain free.
Mom, Mamie, we miss you so very much! We Love you to infinity and beyond.
