born on February 8, 1936, in La Tortue, Port-de-Paix, Haiti. She was a
woman of deep faith, strength, kindness, and generosity who devoted
her life to God, family, hard work, and service to others throughout
her life.
She was married to Prévilon Fénelon, with whom she had a son, Ricot
Fénelon. After the passing of her husband, she immigrated to the
Bahamas, where she met her partner, Seraphin Lebrun. In 1977, they
moved to South Florida in search of better opportunities, where they
adopted and raised Sandra Gabriel Grant.
Normelia opened her home to many throughout her life. As “Marenn” to
many and “Mme Pré” to those closest to her, she loved cooking, music,
prayer, caring for others, and spending time with family and friends.
Her Catholic faith remained an important part of her life until her
passing. She was a longtime member of the Catholic church community
that began at St. Isidore, later became St. Joseph, and is now part of
St. Elizabeth of Hungary Catholic Church. She was also a devoted
member of the Legion de Marie (Legion of Mary) and the Groupe
Charismatique (Charismatic Prayer Group).
Normelia worked for many years at the same company until health issues
eventually led to her retirement.
Normelia leaves to cherish her memory: her children, Sandra Gabriel
Grant and Ricot Fénelon; her daughter-in-law, Lillian Fénelon; her
grandchildren, Neymar Grant and Shakespeare Fénelon; and her nephew,
Thenes Gabriel.
She is also remembered by the Sully, Eugene, Elusma-Telusma,
Monbranche, Jean, Thervil, Loriston, Tousaint, Jean Phillipe,
Cryriaque, Lebrun, Olehomme, Etienne, Duvivier, Fritzherbert, Octomar,
Lucien, Pierre, Forestal, and Berquin families; along with her
extended family, church family, friends, neighbors, and many others
whom she embraced as her own.
Though she is no longer physically with us, her prayers, love, and
legacy will continue through the many lives she touched.
“The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.”
