

Nunzio Amante, 81, of Boca Raton, Florida passed away on Friday, March 21, 2013. He was born in Ribera, Sicily, Italy on July 19, 1932. Nunzio visited the US in 1964 on vacation. In 1967 he migrated with wife and three children. His fourth child was born here in the US. He came from Italy not knowing a word of English and found random jobs like construction, cleaning, dishwashing, and landscaping to support his family. Five years later he and his wife decided to buy a diner in Deerfield beach along A1A which has turned into one of the most successful restaurants since 1975. Bob’s Pizza/Amantes Italian Cuisine. His name was Nunzio however most in Deerfield knew him as “Papa Nunzio” The man who fed the poor and less fortunate, a man who walked the beach and recruited customers. Nunzio is survived by his loving wife Rosaria, his children, Bobby, Anna, Maria, and Josephine, a daughter in law Cristina, 3 son in laws Eden, Robert, and John, 9 grandchildren, Claudia, Marina, Marissa, Daniella, Robert, Nunzio, Carina, Giana, and Nicolette, 2 great grandchildren Victoria and Juliana, a brother Tony and a sister Josephine. A sister Maria and a brother Frank preceded him in death. The family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. and again from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. on Monday, March 24, 2014 at Forest Lawn Funeral Home, 200 West Copans Road, Pompano beach, FL 33064. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12 Noon on Tuesday, March 25, 2014, at St. Ambrose Catholic Church, 380 South Federal Highway, Deerfield Beach, FL 33441.
