Olga Mertella Fender, affectionally known to many as “Merty” or “Aunty Merty,” was born April 4, 1945 in St. Thomas, Jamaica to the late Levi Thomas and Edith Stewart. She was the seventh of eight children, and the youngest of five girl siblings. God called his beloved Merty home to eternal rest on July 19, 2020.
Olga had a loving, caring, and generous spirit. She loved the Lord with all her heart and always maintained a faith that often seemed immeasurable and unbreakable. Olga always enjoyed the company of her close friends and family. She had a zeal for life, loved making people happy, and always went above and beyond for anyone who needed it.
Olga was loved by many, and is survived by three siblings, daughters Claire, Carol, and Teisha, grandchildren Ray, Trudy, Paul, Kalon, Kyla, Isaiah, two great-grandchildren Zaina and Meshech, several nieces, nephews, and many close friends. Her family lovingly asks that—in lieu of flowers—donations be made to the family.”
“When you speak of her,
speak not with tears,
for thoughts of her should not be sad.
Let memories of the times you shared
give you comfort,
for her life was rich
because of you.”
