Phyllis was the first child of Ben and Rose (Spina) Casablanca. She was born on December 8th 1933 in Bronx NY where she lived until soon after her marriage to Paul Biondolillo (d. 1995) on September 19th 1953. In 1955 Paul and Phyllis had their first of two children (Rosemary) and moved to Levittown NY where they would have a second child (Paul Jr.) and lived until moving to Florida in 1967.
In 1968 Paul and Phyllis moved to a new community in Broward County, Kimberly Village, where they lived until 1977. In 1977 they moved to Coral Springs and then Margate Florida as “empty nesters” although the nest was rarely empty. Upon Paul’s passing in 1995 Phyllis moved to Deerfield and then Lighthouse Point to be close to her children and grandchildren. In 2010 Phyllis moved into an ALF in Palm Beach Gardens where she would live out the remainder of her life.
During her years in Florida, Phyllis worked in manufacturing and ultimately landed in banking where she had a long career making many friends and received multiple awards and accolades for outstanding customer service. Phyllis also served as the President of the Gold Coast Italian American Club in Margate. But Phyllis’s real loves were baking and family. If you had the privilege of ever visiting Phyllis at her home these two facts would become evident very fast. Hungry or not you would find yourself “snacking” on some kind of cheese cake, crumb cake, cannoli or whatever she just so happened to whip up that day, and if it was a Sunday you met the whole family and probably many friends as well. Sunday gravy would be on the stove and there was always enough to feed any and all comers. Phyllis was at her happiest in the kitchen with her house full of family. Her selflessness and love for all things family is a rare trait and if you were one of the many who was lucky enough to witness Phyllis’s pure joy when friends and family were gathered at her home your life is better for it.
Phyllis is survived by Rosemary Leto (Jim), Paul Biondolillo (Monique) her 5 grandchildren Nicole, Jimmy (Dina), Danielle (Nick) Nicolas (Gleny, as of 11/3/18) and Paul III as well as her 4 great grandchildren Joey, Avery, James and Gia.
Family and Friends are invited to join us for a celebration life on Saturday September 29th at Forest Lawn on Copans Road, Pompano Beach FL, from 11:00 to 1:30 with a Mass, and gathering immediately afterwards.
