Ramona was born in Puerto Rico on December 15, 1930 to Cruz Correa and Agustin Fontanet. She was the oldest of four children. Her siblings were Agustin, Rafael and Juanita.
With her husband, Justino Santiago Padilla, Ramona raised seven children, Jose , Olga, Justino, Frankie, Nestor, Daisy, and Monin. Ramona cared for and raised her children with singular love and devotion.
Ramona was known for her selfless care and concern for others.
She was an expert cook whose kitchen was open to all visitors and she never allowed a visitor to go hungry, no matter what time of the day or night. She was also a talented seamstress who often made clothing for her family and whose skill was often called upon by those around her who needed hems lifted or lowered, buttons sewn, or clothing mended. She even made her own furniture protectors and covered seats like an expert. In truth, there wasn’t much Ramona could not do, once she set her mind to it. In addition, she was a hobbyist, gardener, and an involved member of her church.
Ramona is survived and will be greatly missed by her children and their families; Justino, Nestor, (Jeannette), Daisy (Obdulio, Jr.), and Monin; and by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings, husband, and her children, Jose, Olga, and Francisco.
