Raymond B Mcbride

Raymond “Ray” McBride, 73, passed away on August 10, 2012 at Wellington Regional Medical Center in Wellington Florida. He was born on February 1, 1939 in Brooklyn New York to Irving and Elizabeth Bettenhauser McBride.

Ray grew up in Brooklyn New York. He served in the United States Navy from 1956 to 1960. Ray later received a Bachelor of Science degree from the New York Institute of Technology. He proudly worked as a Suffolk County police officer, retiring at the rank of Sargent in 1986.

Ray enjoyed a round of golf with friends or swimming laps in the pool at the clubhouse. He was a fun-loving man that never knew a stranger. He loved to share stories and had a charismatic personality that people loved to be around. He was proud of his Irish heritage and was a true Irishman in every sense of the word.

Ray was preceded in death by his former wife Joyce McBride; his mother and step father, Elizabeth and Sparky Leverett; and his father Iriving McBride.

Ray is survived by four daughters Katherine McBride of Deer Park New York, Sharon and her husband Michael Roussel of Bohemia New York, Barbara Holmes and Patricia and her husband Christopher Belcher of Broken Arrow Oklahoma; his twelve grandchildren Samuel Hashim, Daniel Hashim, Cassandra Svendrys, Rachel Hashim, Garrett Belcher, Chelsea Belcher, Kaitlin Belcher, Olivia Taverna, Stephen Belcher, Spencer Holmes, Benjamin Belcher and Shane Holmes; a great grandchild Samuel Hashim; two sisters Eileen Forster and her husband Bill and Maryann McBride; three brothers Thomas McBride, Kenny McBride and his wife Roseann, Danny McBride; and numerous nieces and nephews.

An informal memorial gathering, to celebrate his life, will be held at Ray’s house in Boynton Beach Florida at 7:00pm on Wednesday August 15, 2012. For directions or additional information please call his daughters at (561) 742-2355.
