Robert, who was also known as Bob, was born to Michael James and Mary Chvala Urick on November 1, 1927 in Pittsburgh, Pa.
Bob is survived by his oldest daughter Mary Kruse and his son-in-law David Kruse of Rutherfordton, NC. He is also survived by his middle daughter Terri Oscarson of Deerfield Beach. Bob was blessed to have 8 grandchildren (Heather, Hillary, Holly, Verne, Jenni, Cody ,Ethan and Brenden) He is survived by all of them except for Jenni. He was also blessed to have 9 great grandchildren (Seth, Gage, Veronica, Luke, Erika, Bailey, Ryder, Carly and Bailey) and he is survived by them all. Bob is pre-deceased by his parents, his 2 younger sisters, his first wife Kay, his son Jim and his youngest daughter Beverly. He is also pre-deceased by his his son-in-law Verne Jr. and his grand-daughter Jennifer.
After losing his beloved wife Kay; who was the mother of his 4 children Bob was remarried twice and predeceased by both of his successive wives; Dorothy and Jeannine. Bob experienced alot of loss in his 95 years but as he always said,
"When the Good Lord is ready for me, He'll call me home too." Bob is now at home in Paradise with the Good Lord. As he celebrates his reunion in heaven we will miss him here on earth; until the Good Lord calls us each home too.
Bob served 4 years in the military; Two in the Army and two in the merchant marines. In his younger years Bob was very active in the Knights of Columbus in Louisville, Ky and very active in the church as an usher for mass on Sundays throughout his adult life in Kentucky and in Florida. Bob had a career in business management and owned his own map machine business back when people use to purchase maps for directions. Bob also owned his own small book store at one point in his career. After retiring, Bob thoroughly enjoyed cruising, square dancing and his favorite past times were working puzzles and playing pinochle. At the age of 95 he was still playing cards twice a week and was the manager of one of the pinochle clubs he was a member of.
Bob will be remembered most for his smile, his kindness, his positive attitude, his cheerful disposition and his faith. He will be remembered for being a very good listener, a great father and good friend. He will be remembered for his patience and for his gentle but strong personality. Bob had great faith and so much appreciation for his blessings. Bob will be dearly missed by his family and all who knew and cared for him.
Visitation will be held at the Kraeer Funeral home on Copans Road in Pompano beach, Florida on Sunday Feb. 19th from 4-6pm and a funeral mass will be held at St. Ambrose's Catholic church Monday morning Feb. 20th at 9:30 am. Following the funeral services burial will take place at Forest Lawn in Davie at 11am
