We are so sorry to hear about the loss of Cousin Sherman.  This photo is one of the fond memories that I have of hanging out with Sherman.  We went to Jaxson's Ice Cream and shared a huge chocolate Sundae.

Sherman Mechanic. A fun guy! In the obituary, some wonderful words to describe him; gentle, kind, witty… (and didn’t miss a morsel of food!) 

But, please! Correct details of his life! He had a successful career long before his mother and siblings passed (1991, 1994, 2011.) His father did pass away when Sherman was thirty-six  (1976.)

In addition to his longtime family friend, Sherman is survived by a large number of close and distant relatives in North America and South America; first cousins with whom he is very close, nieces and nephews, great, and great great nieces and nephews. And he has close friends all the way from his New York days.

In memory of a life so beautifully lived and a heart so deeply loved. Some of the best memories I have of summer vacations and spring breaks are of Uncle Sherman's apartment on the beach. He had a very subtle sense of humor that I only appreciated much later, but I definitely miss it, and him. He will be forever missed and always in our hearts.

We had many good meals and times with Sherman. Today  we were at Tanglewood, where in 1988, we all attended  Leonard Bernstein's 70th birthday. Because Bernstein wore a cape, Sherman decided that he had to have one as well.

Dear Sherman,
I fondly remember the beautiful moments we had together, both in Pompano and in Argentina.
I'm sorry I couldn't say goodbye the way I would have liked, but you'll always be in my mind and my heart.
I will miss you a lot.

Uncle Sherman was a fun, genuine, and all around truly nice man. A very generous person with a kind heart, he was definitely a positive influence on those who had the opportunity to know him and laugh with him. Known as Uncle Sherman also to my kids, we celebrated several wonderful Thanksgivings together here in North Carolina. Ahuva, OJ, Melody, Jesse, and I all appreciated and loved Sherman as the family man he was. We are all so sorry to hear of the loss of this warm man, who will be remembered fondly as such.

So sad to hear the passing of “uncle Sherman “, like my kids called him. I loved him and we got a long very nicely. I will miss him! We all will miss him ! Very sad news!

Sherman and I were first cousins and spent lots of good times together in our youth as my father had a car and he would take us places.
As adults, my husband Burt and I spent time with Sherman at Pompano Beach in his apt and he visited us in the Berkshires.  We spent many meals together.
We are sorry to hear of his demise and he is in our thoughts.

Sherman was my uncle, I grew up with him in the Bronx. Our family just found out thru sources he passed away 3 weeks ago  . He was very close with his family of nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grandnephews , close 1st cousins Wilbur , Geri and Burt, Irv and Marilyn .  All - Mechanic family. His parents Esther and Israel my beloved grandparents ,  died 30 years ago ;twin brothers  Gerald in 1991 and Alvin in 2011 
Sherman retired early in his life. He was a pharmacist attended Brooklyn College of pharmacy. He  moved to Florida in his retirement . We all had wonderful memorable visits with him years ago.   Unfortunately because of his long term debilitating illness  and circumstances with his caretakers, he was effectively isolated from his family .  Nevertheless , I do mourn his passing and relieved he is out of his misery. Baruch Dayan HaEmet. May his memory be for a blessing.
