Sybil Myrna Tierney

August 11th, 1936 to May 27th 2026

Sybil Tierney died in Deerfield Beach, FL. on May 27th, 2026 surrounded by her loved ones. She was 89 years old.

Born in Pittsfield, MA to Edward P. L'Hote and Zenobia (Froio) L'Hote. Sybil was the oldest of 5 brothers and sisters.

Sybil graduated from North Bennington (VT) High School in 1954, where she was known for her "quiet and mannerly way".

She married Edward M. Tierney in July of 1957 at Sacred Heart Church in Pittsfield, MA. They moved to Boca Raton, FL in 1969 where they raised their three wonderful boys, Matthew, Brian and Brenden. The youngest, Brenden always called her his living angel.

Sybil worked at Boca Regional Hospital as an administrative assistant in the Emergency Department for 10+ years.

In 1989 Sybil and Ed retired to the mountains of Tennessee where they built their dream home and enjoyed gardening, walking and volunteering at her church, St. Alphonsus. She was also a member of St. Jude's Catholic Church.

Following the death of her husband, Sybil returned to Florida in June 2017 to be near her youngest son and extended family where she enjoyed quality time with her many Granddogs, who all loved her dearly. Sybil made many friends and was active in her church, St. Ambrose, Deerfield Beach. She enjoyed many family dinners and never failed to offer her help. Sybil was truly a joy to be around and brought peace and serenity to all who had the pleasure of her company.

Sybil was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Ed and her son Matthew.

She leaves her two sons Brian Tierney (Andrea) of Chattanooga TN, Brenden Tierney (Lisa Politto) of Pompano Beach, FL. Two brothers Harold L'Hote (Diana) and Howard L'Hote (Nancy) of Washington, MA. Two sisters, Alice Archey (Joe) of Pittsfield, MA and Claudia L'Hote (Fred Hayward) of Graysville, TN. Grandchildren, Justin and Colin Tierney of Chattanooga, TN, Paddy and Rosie Exum of Chattanooga, TN. Joseph Artman (Autumn) of Cocoa Beach, FL, April Greene (Mike) of Oakland Park, FL and two Great Grandchildren Avery and Asher Greene.

Sybil will be interred with her husband, Ed at the South Florida National Cemetery.
