Verna Eileen Haltaufderhyde (maiden name Mykoo) was born in Moneague, Jamaica W. I. on August 3, 1934.

She entered Heaven's gates on June 18, 2020.

Verna grew up in Moneague and later went to Nursing School at Kingston Public Hospital in Jamaica, W. I. from 1953 to 1956. She then took advanced courses after graduation. After gaining some experience in hospitals throughout Jamaica, she immigrated to New York City and began working as a nurse. In time, she worked in Columbia Presbyterian Hospital with Dr. Oz and other physicians as an operating room nurse. In time, she became supervisor of all the operating suites.

Verna became an American citizen in 1962 and later married Vincent Ellis Haltaufderhyde on October 17, 1965. They lived in New York City for eight years and later she gave birth to Vynette Eileen. The three of them lived in Demarest, NJ for many years before Vincent and Verna retired to Florida in the mid 1990's. Verna passed away after a struggle with dementia. She leaves her husband Vincent, daughter Vynette, niece Marcia, nephew Ian, grand nieces Elysia and Julia, and grand nephew Karlisle.

Verna, my dear and loving " Batch Mate " and friend of over 67 Years from our days in Nursing School in Jamaica. You will be greatly missed but I will always remember and cherish the many enjoyable times our families shared. Rest In Peace ! And God
