Mr. Powell was a native and lifelong resident of Ft. Lauderdale, FL before moving to Brooklet 15 years ago. He was a decorated U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a self-employed general contractor. He attended the Brooklet United Methodist Church and was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Joyce Powell; his brother, Norman Powell and his parents, Vasco and Edna Mae Jackson Powell.
He is survived by his wife, Gail Ward Powell of Brooklet; sons, William Gary Powell and his wife Beverley of Stuart, FL; Clinton Gerald Powell and his wife, Nora of Oak Park, FL and Dennis Anthony Powell and his wife, Jenice of Soldotna, AK; step-sons, Mathew Dellinger and his wife Laura of Buford, GA and Kenneth Dellinger and his wife Jody of Brooklet, GA, sisters, Ruby Stewart of Orlando, FL and Jean Reagan of Hope Sound, FL; family friend, Jay Ward of Brooklet; 6 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends 1:00 to 3:00 PM Tuesday in Kraeer Funeral Home, 200 N. Federal Hwy, Pompano Beach, FL 33062.
Funeral service will be held 3:00 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Kraeer Funeral Home.
Burial will be in the Pompano Beach Cemetery.
