Benjamin Israel Brown, age 30, died Thursday, July 21, 2011 at NMMC in Pontotoc as the result of a motorcycle accident. He was a member of the Laodicea Primitive Baptist Church, a 1998 Graduate of South Pontotoc High School, a 2009 Graduate of the MS State Fire Academy, where he was the Valedictorian of his class, a NREMT Basic and had just been accepted into the Paramedic Program at ICC. He was a firefighter with the New Albany Fire Dept. and a Volunteer Firefighter with the Pontotoc Fire Dept. He loved spending time with his family and friends.
Services will be at 2 PM Saturday, July 23, 2011 at Browning Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Marcus Coward officiating, burial will follow in the Laodicea Primitive Baptist Church. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors include his wife Erica Duncan Brown and children Austin and Emma; his mother Ladean Waldrop Goodrich and Ken of Pontotoc; his father: Terry Lee Brown and Barbara of Pontotoc; a sister: Jessica Brown of Lafayette Springs, MS; his grandparents: Collins and Wilma Waldrop of Thaxton; Charlie and Vera Brown of Thaxton; Dessee Goodrich of Pontotoc; Ed and Maybell Rainey of Ripley, MS; several aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Robert Goodrich.
Pallbearers will be the firefighters from New Albany Fire Department and the Pontotoc Fire Department.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 Friday and from 12 to 2 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
