Carolyn devoted 40 years of service to the City of Pontotoc, 28 of those as a city clerk. After her retirement, she continued working with the Chamber of Commerce until the age of 85. She was a devoted member of Victory Baptist Church. She cherished traveling with her sisters, creating scrapbooks, and capturing many memories through photography. Above all, she treasured time with her family, who brought her the greatest joy. Carolyn will be remembered for her warm spirit and her signature red lipstick and red fingernail polish, which she never went without.
She is survived by her son, John Lauderdale (Debby); her daughter, Melanie Roberts (Michael); her grandchildren, Jessica Phillips (Chris), Ashley Watts (Jason), Laurin Mathews (David), Kristin Tillotson (Jake), and Lindsey Maher (Joseph); and her great-grandchildren, Bailey Watts, Conner Watts, John-Riley Watts, Ella Kate Maher,Ada Grace Maher, Luke Mathews, and Swayze Mathews. She also leaves behind two sisters, Helen Clark and Mary Sue Maughan (PeeWee).
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lytle and Callie Morton, and her infant daughter, Kelly Leigh Lauderdale.
Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons. Her nephew Tommy Bowden, is an honorary pallbearer
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 1, from 5–8 p.m. at Browning Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow on Tuesday, September 2, at 12 p.m., with a visitation beginning at 11 a.m. prior to the service. Burial will follow at Victory Baptist Church. Bro. Jason Watts will officiate. Browning Funeral Home is honored to serve the Lauderdale family.
