David Eugene Anderson of Houlka, 90, died Saturday, February 17, 2018 at Methodist Le Bonheur Germantown Hospital in Germantown, TN. He was born in Pontotoc, Mississippi on January 24, 1928 to Grady Muriel and Beulah Mathews Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a World War II veteran serving as a medic while stationed in Japan. After service in the Army he moved to Memphis in 1948 where he was employed as a machinist at International Harvester. In Memphis he met and married Reba Zachary of Houlka, MS. He and his wife lived in Memphis for over 30 years raising their daughters and enjoying their granddaughters. Mr. Anderson retired from International Harvester in 1978 after 30 years of service.
In retirement he and his wife moved to their property outside of Houlka where he enjoyed farming. Mr. Anderson enjoyed farming soybeans for many years until he could no longer climb on the tractor. He and his wife, Reba, were married 50 years before her death in 2001.
Visitation will be from 4:30 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 23 at Browning funeral home in Pontotoc, MS. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, February 24, at Browning Funeral Home. Burial will be in the Rose Hill Cemetery in Houlka. Browning Funeral Home in Pontotoc is in charge of the arrangements.
He is survived by his daughters, Patricia A. Wilhite of Jackson and Jean A. Stowe of Houston, TX; granddaughters, Gena J. Wolbrecht and Jennifer N. Fleming; and four great-grandchildren.
